Our Story

Welcome to BarnesBackyardBees.com. Our Co-CEOs, Jesse (14 years old) and Jon Silas (11 years old) began beekeeping with 2 hives as a hobby with their dad in the spring of 2023. Early in their beekeeping adventure, the boys decided that they would start a business selling honey and beeswax-based products. Although they didn’t harvest honey or wax in their first year, they decided to make a small batch of all natural beeswax-based products with wax from reputable, commercial beekeepers in preparation for the following year. The boys began by designing and making hand creams and lip balms from the highest quality ingredients. The feedback from their first customers was overwhelming. The boys soon increased their production, began selling at local arts and crafts fairs, and added to their product line by making an assortment of 100% beeswax candles. Jesse and Jon Silas are now in their 3rd year of beekeeping and have expanded to 12 beehives. They and their bees are working hard to bring the highest quality all natural honey to their customers.
